Corporate 4 Miler
Since I work for the state, I started taking advantage of the free Gym that they offer which is just down the street from where I work (which is quite convenient). In the hallways they advertised this Corporate 4 miler race. A fellow coworker told me she was doing it so I emailed the person listed and was able to sign up for free! I could not turn down a free race (even after just running a Half Marathon on May 31 with this Corporate 4 miler just being 4 days away on June 4th). Call me crazy, but I took it VERY easy and slow those next few days until the race. I am glad my trainer let me run at my own pace. I did not want to risk damaging anything in my legs since they were still sore.
The race course was in the Innsbrook area. I have worked out in that location many times before with Seal Team PT so I was quite familiar with the surroundings.
Since I was representing Henrico County, they gave us these bright green shirts to wear that said Team Henrico on the back. We had a pretty decent group show up representing the Military and Government Division.
The race started at 7 pm. It started to rain at the start of the race, but this did not bother me at all. I would much rather run in the cool rain compared to the scorching hot sun.
There were many tents set up representing the different businesses in the area. I mostly hung around our tent though. Post Race we had fruit, veggies, chicken strips, and some sweets.
I ended up finishing the race in 31:12. I averaged 7:48 per mile which was a whole minute faster compared to my half marathon pace. I definitely seem to run a lot faster when its cooler out. I was in the top 4 females to finish in our group. Team Henrico Won first place for the 5th year in a row for both Mens and Womens in the Military and Government Division! I was glad I was able to be a part of this ongoing accomplishment. I plan to do it again next year!
