The tallest waterfall in the state of New Jersey. Buttermilk Falls is located on the New Jersey side of the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. This waterfall cascades 90 feet down the Kittatinny Ridge. I almost missed out on seeing this waterfall. With it being winter time, some of the roads were closed. I originally tried driving in from the north, but the dirt road was closed so I attempted to drive in through the south. The road was still blocked off, but I decided to park outside the gate and run up to the waterfall. It was about a mile up from where I parked. It was a flat gravel road which wasn’t too difficult at all and pretty straight forward. There were a few abandon houses on the way which were pretty cool to check out. I did not dare risk to step in them.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS

Buttermilk Falls is 25 miles away from Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania which is about a 47 minute drive. Depending on where you are coming from this waterfall can be entered on Mountain Road coming from the north or south entrance.
