Leesburg 20k

Leesburg 20k

This was my first 20k located in a small town called Leesburg in Northern Virginia. I found out about this race from an old college friend of mine who would post many of his runs on facebook. We started talking about running and he ended up finding this race. It was a pretty decent price of only $40 plus it benefited the local Loudoun County YMCA. I had not seen my friend in a few years and this was a…

DC Spartan Sprint

DC Spartan Sprint

The infamous Spartan race! Oh boy where do I even begin!? One of the toughest racest I have ever done! Mudderella was a joke compared to this race!! Those who have never done a Spartan race will never truly understand how hard  they actually are until you actually complete one. Spartan is not only a big challenge physically, but mentally as well. To get a better idea of the race here is this year’s video of the DC Spartan Sprint. For…

Mudderella

Mudderella

Mudderella Capital Region, my very first mud run! I never thought much about doing a mud run until I heard about this race from a friend of mine. Now what exactly is Mudderella? Mudderella is a 5-7 mile long muddy obstacle course designed by women (yay for girl power ha). The race included 12-15 obstacles and is not competitive at all (which is just what I needed). I had just ran two 5k’s that week so I am glad that this…

Independence Day Classic 17.76k

Independence Day Classic 17.76k

As a runner I couldn’t think of a better way of celebrating the 4th of July than running a 17.76k. This race was located on Shirley Plantation in Charles City on the James River. For you History buffs, Shirley Plantation is Virginia’s first plantation founded in 1613. Shirley Plantation is the oldest family owned business in the US. The famous General Robert E. Lee’s mother was born at Shirley Plantation and he received some of his schooling in the converted…

Gen Chesty Puller 10k

Gen Chesty Puller 10k

The famous United States Marine Corps Lieutenant General Chesty Puller was one of the most decorated war heroes in the Marine Corps. I love history so I thought it was pretty neat running this race in his hometown of West Point. Runners got to run right past General Chesty Puller’s waterfront home which was at the beginning of the course. A coworker told me about this race so I decided to sign up for it, plus it was a decent price….

Corporate 4 Miler

Corporate 4 Miler

Since I work for the state, I started taking advantage of the free Gym that they offer which is just down the street from where I work (which is quite convenient). In the hallways they advertised this Corporate 4 miler race. A fellow coworker told me she was doing it so I emailed the person listed and was able to sign up for free! I could not turn down a free race (even after just running a Half Marathon on May 31…

Run for the Dream Half Marathon Williamsburg

Run for the Dream Half Marathon Williamsburg

This was my very first Half Marathon! Being that crazy runner, I spontaneously decided to sign up just the day before the race. Since the beginning of the year, I have been doing a lot of running on my own. I was doing a good 135 miles a month. A fellow coworker kept telling me about all of these races he was doing and sponsored me for the Fall Classic Half Marathon in Charlottesville in October. I did not want to wait that…
